25-year pool franchising veteran makes a splash
We’ve had a lot of stories about diversity in the franchising industry over the years, but this one really inspired us to get into the swim of things.
Ian Jenkins is celebrating 25 years in the franchise industry. Starting out as a Poolwerx Franchise Partner with a mobile business in Brisbane, he successfully seized the opportunity to become a movie consultant for Poolwerx Movie Services. Ian now provides pool and water safety expertise to major movies that have been produced at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast, like Aquaman and Thor.

Advice for franchisees
Throughout his 25 year career, Jenkins has won multiple awards. His unique position as both a Franchise Partner and a corporate manager within Poolwerx had given him an insight into what makes a franchise business successful, with diversity being a key element in business growth.
“My advice to Franchise Partners has always been to understand cash flow, make informed decisions that reflect the nature of the industry you are in, hire the best people and don’t be afraid of change,” he said. “About 10 years ago I saw the potential to diversify my business by consulting to production companies who use pools as part of the movie making process.”
From buying a pool mobile maintenance franchise in 1994 to becoming a consultant for blockbuster movies, Ian has certainly made a splash in the franchising industry.
