Fridas Sip N' Paint franchise business Q & A
Rebecca Green Co-Founder of Frida’s SIP N' PAINT, joined us for a brief chat at the Melbourne Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo, April 2022.
We covered some of the key aspects of the franchise business including the type of people that are best suited, any common misconceptions about the brand or industry, as well as advice or guidance for anyone looking to get into business for themselves, and more…
What is your business?
"We are Frida's Sip N' Paint, and we've elevated the paint experience for anyone to enjoy.
Where are you located?
We are located all around Australia.
We have eight studios currently and we will have 12 by the end of June (22).
What do you love about the business and what you do?
What I love is the experience that we give to clients, we have people that come in and that don't know how to paint. They just want to have a good time.
That's exactly what we provide them.
We really love elevating that experience and making sure people walk out of it and want to come back straight away.
What do you look for in the right-fit person to be a franchise owner?
We have anyone from 6 to 90 and all skill levels (customers), so it is really diverse who comes into our studio and all walk out with a smile on their face.
So we have a few different options. So we have artists that want to be involved in the sessions and want to teach, but also want the freedom of having their own business. And then we have investors as well.
But one thing in common that we want people to really be 100% all over the customer service, that's a really big plus for us.
So we're very picky on who we choose to be a franchise because we really believe that we want that brand to be strong and all about the experience and the customer service.
What’s a common misconception you believe people have about your brand or niche?
So, obviously they can't paint.
So that is a big misconception.
I can't paint myself and I own the brand, but the good thing is I look at it from a point of view of people that can't paint, that want to come into a studio and want to have some fun. So you don't need to know how to paint. You just need to have artists that can teach those steps.
So I think from a franchise point of view, you don't need to know how to paint. You just have to have your staff. And also from a client's point of view, it's all about fun, not like fine art.
So yeah, they just come in and have a great time.
What would be your advice for people looking to get into their own business?
I definitely say passion.
You have to have passion no matter what you do. So if you are passionate about the brand and you're passionate about the industry, then that will go a long way.
What is your key focus for the next 12-18 months?
Look, we really want to build up the brand to be...It is national at the moment.
We want to build it up more to go international. So that's our next focus is to continue growing in Australia and then in the next 12 months start expanding internationally."
