Take a look inside at what's happening up-front, and behind the scenes in a Gong cha Bubble Tea store.

The brand has been in Australia for just over a decade, and started well-behind some existing large players. The brand has had a significant acceleration in growth over recent years, seeing it's popularity surge with now 155+ store locations in the market.

Jingwen Chen, Regional Manager, hosts our tour in showing you all that's going on in this busy store environment.

"Welcome to Gong cha, we are a bubble tea franchise.

And this is one of our stores located in Sydney, CBD at George Street.

I would love to take you on a tour inside the business.

Let's go.

Front Counter

So welcome, this is what our customers see the first thing they come in.

So we've got our menu boards here, we've got our TV showing our top ten bestsellers.

We've got a TV showing the process of preparing the ingredients.

And we've also got a seasonal promotion TV over there.

We also have posters over there that shows our current promotions. And we've got a little display here for our merchandise.

So the customer can choose to order at our point of sale over here, or they could order at the self ordering kiosk, which is just around the corner, which helps them skip the queue.

So now I would like to show you the dining room.

Let's go.

Dining Room

Okay, so this is another area that I want to show you guys.

So this is our dining area. It fits about ten to 15 people, which is a pretty standard size.

We've got stores that's much bigger, which will have a bigger dining area and small stores that's just a kiosk, which means that there won't be any dining area.

So our customers can pick up the drinks from the pickup area and they can enjoy the drinks here with their friends.

Come on, I'll show you how we make the drinks at our preparation area.

Back of Store 

So this is our back of store area. This is where our kitchen is, this is a place where you probably won't be able to see.

So we use this area to prepare our tea and pearls that we later use to serve the customers at the front.

So this is the pot that we use to cook tea, and this is the pot that we use to cook pearls.

So apart from these, we also cook our toppings at the back here, so pudding, for example.

So, yeah, I'll show you how we make the drinks at the front.

Preparation Area

So now I'll take you through the preparation area. So all the ingredients that I showed you at the back of the dining area gets bring out to the front.

And so once we receive an order from the customer, our staff will put the toppings into the drinks.

We have many pieces of machinery to accompany the wide range of drinks that we have.

So we have the smoothie maker to make our smoothies.

We also have a blender to make our milk tea.

We also have a steamer that heats up our drinks.

And and over here we have the filling machine which fills our drinks, and a sugar dispenser machine, which is where we would add the sugar for our drinks.
