Kitset Assembly Services franchise business Q & A with Grant Nye

You know those frustrating flat pack items that we all need to build after buying?

Grant Nye, CEO of Kitset Assembly Services talked us through the details about what the brand does to solve a problem in the services market and their growth focus for the future amongst other details.

"Our business is Kitset Assembly Services.

We assemble flat pack products both in people's homes and places of work.

Locations

Our business originated in New Zealand in 2017.

We now have national coverage with 40 odd franchisees there and in Australia at the end of 2022.

We came into the Australian market in Melbourne. We're in Canberra, and this van behind me is the van of our new Sydney franchisee, who starts on Monday after three weeks of training.

Love about the business

What I love about the business is how simple it is, it's a service that saves people time.

We're all time poor.

It takes the frustration out of something that can be quite complicated, especially if your partner's standing over you acting as foreman.

And increasingly, people don't have the tools or the skills in which to complete these assemblies.

So we solve for a lot of different things and that's really pleasing at the end of the day to see, you know, you've built and saved someone.

The best-fit person for a Kitset Assembly Services franchise

We need someone that's practically minded.

So you don't need to be a builder or a skilled trade professional, but you do need to have some practical application.

If you've renovated a house or done some painting or tinkered with building a garden shed, this is probably going to be right up your alley.

Good info to know

Our franchise offer is a new franchise system in Australia.

We've got a whole lot of great inclusions that we're putting in with the initial opportunity fee.

So we'll wrap your vehicle, we'll fly you down to our support office for your initial training, and we'll get you started with a tools package and marketing packages.

So make sure you hit the ground running with as much speed and impetus as possible.

Common misconceptions

So sometimes they think that they need to have some sort of trade cert or some sort of skill.

You know, we don't play in that higher end building or, you know, tiny homes.

It is assembled or assembly of products that are already supplied just in that flat pack form. So it's not a qualified skill, it's not  Certified skill, but it is certainly a skill.

Key focus going forward

All of our focus is in our Australian expansion.

You know, we have a high volume of work into Melbourne at the moment that we're covering with staff and contractors.

So that's a real area that we need to see some franchisees in.

Like I said, we're here in Sydney, South East Queensland, and we'll focus on those three markets initially, but there's plenty of work.

You know, our territory size is about 100,000 populations.

So between those three areas, there's upward 150 franchisees that we'll be looking to grant."
